We are talking about love and affection a lot at the moment at Pottles Court

It’s such an important issue and one we really must never ever ignore or dismiss as not vital in our lives

There are so many songs we sing – spontaneous singalongs mostly led by Dot that include love as a topic

We are very keen to share our views on love and in fact have added intimacy as a topic to our care plans after lots of talk on this and a peer review visit from fellow outstanding care home ‘friends’ from Crediton and Abbotskerswell.

Questions we have been asking of each other have included:

1. Do you remember your first kiss?
2. Who was the love of your life?
3. How do you feel about having a cuddle or a hug?
4. Do you feel remembering lost loves to be a nice thing or something that makes you sad?

We have had a lot of chats about this assisted by things we’ve watched on the TV – so many films focus on this too – we recently watched the classic weepy ‘The King and I’ and when Deborah Kerr sang “hello young lovers wherever you are” this really did generate a lot of nostalgia about those we love and have loved. We would have liked to sing to our great loves too given better singing voices!! – (we can’t all have a lovely voice like Dot!!), regaling them with our nightingale like dulcet tones!!

There is a view in song that ‘Love Is All Around’ and’ Love Is All You Need’ and ‘What The World Needs Now Is Love Sweet Love’ so we are eager to turn our memories and feelings about love into a musical compilation – this is where you, our reader, comes in!
